ESI Charter

The Empowerment Society is a nonprofit organization with the goal of creating a free and sustainable world, “One Individual at a time.”
The Empowerment Society seeks to create an enduring society by fostering a system of commerce, production, and design whereby each act is inherently sustainable and restorative. To achieve these solutions, The Empowerment Society must begin with a set of objectives.

Objectives

1. Create an alliance of individuals, businesses, and communities that believe in sustainability and who will build a network of interaction and commerce to rebuild society into a sustainable world community
2. Reduce absolute consumption of energy and natural resources consumed in sub-Saharan Africa by 50 percent within the next twenty years.
3. Provide secure, stable, and meaningful employment for people everywhere.
4. Be self-actuating as opposed to regulated or morally mandated.
5. Honor market principles.
6. Be more rewarding than our present way of life.
7. Exceed sustainability by restoring degraded habitats and ecosystems to their fullest biological capacity.
8. Rely on current income.
9. Be fun and engaging, and strive for an aesthetic outcome.” (Hawkin)
